This beautiful tapestry has been inspired by the Holy Grail tapestries that were woven by Morris & Company depicting scenes from the Legend of King Arthur.
Despite Morris' ambitions to be a painter and his latter reputation as a writer, poet, publisher and political activist, it is as a designer that he is most widely known.
The Verdure with Deer and Shields tapestry is an accompanying woodland tapestry from the Holy Grail series featuring deer, the knight’s shields hanging from the trees and the text stating " Of those Knights that thus departed these are the shields of Sir Gawaine of Orkney, Sir Lancelot, Sir Hector Demarys, Sir Bors, Sir Percival and Sir Galahad ".
This highly detailed tapestry makes a wonderful gift for any history lover.
This is a reproduction of the famous Holy Grail Tapestry which was originally designed by Edward Burne Jones and woven by William Morris & Co in 1895-96. This tapestry is one of the six panels illustrating the story of the Holy Grail.
Wall tapestries are woven works of art with texture not found in any other art form. The combination of the thread colors and weaves creates a unique art experience. This tapestry is woven on jacquard loom, fully lined and finished with two rod pockets on the backside so you can hang it easily.
